Intramuscular Stimulation (CGIMS) is a method to diagnose and treat myofascial and chronic pain that occurs in the musculoskeletal system. The treatment uses acupuncture needles to penetrate deep within muscle tissue, specifically targeting injured muscles that have contracted and become shortened from stress. A shortened muscle will grab the needle in what can be described as a cramping sensation. The result is a lengthened relaxed muscle which reduces pain and stimulates the healing process.
