Laurie Block

Registered Physiotherapist, MPT, BHK, CGIMS, CAFCI

Laurie is an active sports-focused Physiotherapist in Squamish, with 18 years of experience. She graduated with a Masters of Physiotherapy from University of British Columbia. Previously she earned a Bachelor of Human Kinetics, Exercise Science from University of British Columbia.

Having worked as a Team Physiotherapist with the Canadian Freestyle Ski Team and Canada Snowboard, Laurie has been involved with elite level National Team Athletes on the International stage. She has extensive experience treating orthopaedic injuries, post-operative clients, and with progressive exercise based rehabilitation programs.

Laurie is certified in Chan Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (CGIMS) through the UBC School of Medicine, and certified in Acupuncture with the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (CAFCI). She has completed Orthopaedic Manual Therapy courses with the National Orthopaedic Division, and has additional training in Running Assessment and Rehabilitation, Vestibular Rehabilitation, Real Time Ultrasound and Bike Fit.

Laurie has worked as a Physiotherapist internationally, in major city sports centers, and in several mountain towns. She loves the diversity and challenge of working with people of all ages, interests and abilities. Helping people understand the healing process and necessary steps to get back to function is a motivator. Laurie takes pride in her ability to educate, treat, support and advocate for her clients.

In addition to Physiotherapy, Laurie is a certified Apprentice Ski Guide through the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. She is a passionate skier, mountain biker, trail runner and mountain athlete. Having grown up as a competitive triathlete and runner; she knows what it is like to be injured. It was multiple sports and ultimately an injury related to forest firefighting that led her to become a physiotherapist.

Laurie’s latest and greatest adventure is becoming mom to Nora, who is living her best active toddler life in Squamish!
